How to Shop Sales Without Regret
Sales create urgency, but not all discounts create value. Good sale shopping starts before the markdown window, with a prepared list and clear standards.
Pre-Define the Need
Only shop sales for items already on your replacement or upgrade list. A discount is not a reason to invent a need.
Use a Quality Threshold
- Fabric must meet a minimum durability and comfort level.
- Fit must be acceptable without unrealistic alteration costs.
- The item should complete at least three existing outfits.
Beware of Anchor Pricing
Never buy because a retailer shows a higher original price. Compare against actual value and utility, not just percentage off.
